DETAILED INFORMATION

Established in 1885, The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is a global leader in pharmaceutical education, research, and clinical practice. As part of one of the most comprehensive health sciences campus in the nation and located steps away from the Wexner Medical Center, the college is home to world-class faculty, dedicated researchers and outstanding students who are leading the way in pharmacy education, practice and research.
Our students have access to all of the university’s vast resources, while also enjoying the advantages of enrollment in a small academic environment. They also have many inter-professional opportunities with academic programs on-campus which include Dentistry, Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Optometry, Veterinary Medicine, and the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Clinical opportunities in Central Ohio include University Hospitals and associated clinics, the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, University Hospital East, the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Harding Behavioral Healthcare and Medicine, the Veterinary Teaching Hospitals, and The Ohio State University Dental Clinic and Optometry Clinic.
Ohio State University conducts a holistic review process of each applicant. The College welcomes an application from any student who meets the minimum qualifications. The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is a four-year post-graduate professional degree designed to prepare students for pharmacy licensure and practice. Students entering this program are required to complete a Bachelor’s degree prior to matriculation. Admission is competitive with the applicant required to meet GPA and composite PCAT minimums, as well as a core math, science and general education curriculum.
The PharmD curriculum, Inquire, Innovate, Involve (I3) takes an innovative approach to education by structuring classes in modules so students can experience the integration of science and practice. The I3 curriculum allows students to get hands-on pharmacy training during the first year in the program and develops the interpersonal skills that are critical to patient interactions. The curriculum also focuses on helping students develop a comprehensive problem-solving approach through increased incorporation of active learning strategies, integration of pharmaceutical and clinical sciences, and an earlier introduction of integrated practical experiences that could be simulated and then practiced. Combined degree programs for PharmD/MBA or PharmD/PhD are available for qualified applicants.
