DETAILED INFORMATION

The specialty residency in pediatric pharmacotherapy gives the resident the opportunity to gain expertise in a number of pediatric patient care settings including general pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, pediatric hematology/oncology, pediatric Emergency Medicine, and the Pediatric Specialty Outpatient Clinic. Areas of additional emphasis include rotations in infectious disease, pediatrics nephrology, and mother-baby/newborn nursery. The resident will participate in precepting pharmacy students as well as present a formal lecture at the College of Pharmacy. Additionally, the resident will have the opportunity to complete the PEPPR teaching certificate program offered through the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. Completion of a formal clinical research project is required.
