DETAILED INFORMATION

This PGY2 residency provides training to create independent pediatric infectious disease clinical specialists who are also prepared to be a clinical track faculty member at a pharmacy school. The program offers rotations in antimicrobial stewardship, infectious diseases, research, and others. The resident also participates on various committees. Residents complete one year-long project, one review article, and one drug-use evaluation. Residents develop teaching skills by working with University of Connecticut pharmacy students.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is a nationally recognized children’s hospital and is the primary pediatric teaching hospital for University of Connecticut students. Connecticut Children’s has an established antimicrobial stewardship program that has demonstrated improvements in antimicrobial utilization.
