At McWhorter School of Pharmacy we believe that “Where You Get Your Pharm.D. Matters” and we are committed to providing you with a personalized path to a career in pharmacy. Our innovative programs offer numerous didactic and experiential courses and electives that allow you to customize your studies to achieve your specific career goals. Our students pursue a variety of special interests, including missions, research and community pharmacy.
We have clinical sites in 12 states and 12 countries on five continents.
More than 100 students traveled abroad including mission work, elective courses, and four-year practice experiences.
As part of Samford’s College of Health Sciences, our students experience remarkable interprofessional education opportunities that allow them to work and serve alongside students and professionals from a variety of health professions including nursing, nutrition, physical therapy, public health and more. These experiences equip graduates with essential skills and knowledge that make them highly marketable in today’s ever changing health care environment.
Consistently scoring above the national average on the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX), our graduates are prepared for career success.
– 94% NAPLEX first-time pass rate (10-year average)
– 96% of our graduates are employed, including pharmacy residencies, within six months of graduation (2017)
We believe that relationships matter. With an annual picnic, holiday dinners, exam week stress relief, and more than 10 pharmacy specific student organizations, there are always opportunities for you to get to know your classmates, faculty, staff and administration. With a history that spans more than 90 years, we have over 5000 alumni in 46 states, who believe in supporting our students. Through the support of our alumni and donors, 45% of the Class of 2021 received some level of scholarship funding.
McWhorter School of Pharmacy is located in Samford’s state of the art College of Health Sciences facilities provides a unique learning environment that is designed to foster interprofessional collaboration. The facilities include more than 10 clinical and research labs and a 22,000 square foot Experiential Learning and Simulation Center.
