DETAILED INFORMATION

The Brooklyn Hospital Center is Brooklyn’s oldest hospital and is fully accredited by The Joint Commission. The Department of Pharmacy Services has a progressive clinical focus, with 11 pharmacy residents, 13 pharmacotherapy specialists (including 6 clinical pharmacy educators), staff pharmacists, technicians, messengers, and a dedicated management team. The 12-month PGY-2 Infectious Diseases (ID) pharmacy residency program offers rotations in antimicrobial stewardship, ID consult, HIV clinic, microbiology, medical intensive care, pediatric ID, and an off-site ID rotation in immunocompromised patients. The PGY-2 ID resident will also participate in the 24-hour in-house on-call program, where he or she will evaluate patients for restricted antimicrobial/s approval, maintain pharmacotherapy services, and respond to emergency responses.
