This PGY-1 residency prepares practitioner-educators for academic clinical pharmacy positions. The primary training site, Mercy Hospital St. Louis, is a 979-bed teaching hospital that serves patients with a variety of health conditions. Areas of emphasis include inpatient medicine and ambulatory care with numerous elective opportunities within the healthcare system or at College-affiliated external sites. The resident will deliver journal club presentations, case presentations, seminar, and educational in-services to healthcare professionals. The program includes a formal teaching program and research projects. Opportunities for didactic teaching and precepting student pharmacists are available. The resident will receive an appointment as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at St. Louis College of Pharmacy.
