DETAILED INFORMATION

Residents will develop the advanced knowledge, clinical skills, and confidence needed to be a pediatric pharmacotherapy specialist working with interprofessional medical teams. Rotations include general pediatrics, pediatric and neonatal ICU, pediatric surgery/trauma, cardiothoracic surgery/ICU, and hematology/oncology. Ambulatory care exposure is longitudinal through the year. The residents participate in the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy On-call Service and staff in the MUSC Children’s Hospital Pharmacy. Development of didactic and clinical teaching skills is emphasized with participation in the academic preparation program as well as teaching requirements during the residency. Through research project completion, residents obtain the skills needed for lifelong contributions to the pediatric pharmacotherapy literature.
