DETAILED INFORMATION

LECOM is a private, non-profit institution offering professional programs in pharmacy, medicine, and dentistry. LECOM School of Pharmacy is a single school operating out of two locations, offering the Doctor of Pharmacy degree through three pathways; an accelerated three year pathway in Erie, PA, a traditional four year pathway in Bradenton, FL and a four year distance education pathway, available to students living throughout the United States.
The mission of the LECOM School of Pharmacy is to prepare pharmacy professionals committed to providing high-quality, ethical, and empathetic patient-centered care to serve the needs of a diverse population. Through the integration of sciences with critical thinking skills and effective communication we prepare future pharmacists to be strong patient advocates and leaders in their communities, in professional associations, and in research activities. Students are exposed to early involvement in pharmacy practice that provides valuable learning experiences for their future careers as pharmacists. This also allows a progressive development of students’ professional communication skills, and a true appreciation of pharmaceutical care concepts. Strong emphasis is placed on professionalism and life-long learning.
The vision of the LECOM School of Pharmacy is to be the innovative leader in graduating pharmacists who serve as highly skilled clinicians achieving optimal therapeutic outcomes in all aspects of pharmaceutical care.

The LECOM School of Pharmacy curriculum includes laboratory demonstrations and hands-on exercises, which prepare our students to compound extemporaneous and intravenous preparations. Students also participate in small group sessions to develop application, communication, and other skills needed for the pharmacy profession.

LECOM encourages student involvement and leadership in community service activitiesthrough many officially recognized clubs and organizations. The students are actively involved in various community service events, and in fact, LECOM has been a national award winner every year since the inception of the Script Your Future Medication Adherence Challenges.

LECOM is a member of LECOM Health, which includes Millcreek Community Hospital, LECOM, LECOM Institute for Successful Aging, Medical Associates of Erie physician offices, and the LECOM Medical Fitness and Wellness Center. The LECOM School of Pharmacy is affiliated with over 1,800 practice sites to provide experiential rotations for its students. Chartered in 1992, LECOM’s enrollment has grown to more than 4000 students.
