DETAILED INFORMATION

The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency offers a 2-year program in which the PGY1 resident is conditionally accepted into the PGY2 specialty in Ambulatory Care with emphasis in Family Medicine. Continuity in learning environment and interdisciplinary relationships built in the first year allows for a rich and independent practice during the second year. Residents in their PGY2 year establish an independent practice at one of the three outpatient family health centers. In addition, residents provide longitudinal patient care in a variety of different settings including skilled nursing facilities and private practice physician offices. As inpatient pharmacotherapy is an integral piece of family medicine training, PGY2 pharmacy residents are encouraged to round on the Inpatient Family Health Center teaching service at UPMC St. Margaret.
