SUNY Upstate University Hospital is a 472 bed, level-1 trauma, tertiary care, academic medical center located in Syracuse, NY. The goal is for the resident to develop the necessary skills for specialized ID practice. Residents will see patients with a variety of ID problems through their participation in ID consults, antimicrobial stewardship, transplant ID, and the outpatient antibiotic and HIV clinics. Additional learning experiences include critical care, pediatric ID, emergency medicine, and microbiology laboratory. Completion of a research project is required and additional scholarship opportunities are available based on the resident’s interest. Multiple teaching experiences are available with both didactic, interprofessional, and precepting opportunities. Involvement in the antimicrobial stewardship subcommittee is required.
