The NHPMC PGY1 program focuses on developing the resident into a competent clinical practitioner who will contribute to positive patient outcomes. The purpose is to prepare its graduates to assume positions as clinical staff pharmacists working in the acute care setting or to pursue PGY2 training in specialized areas of pharmacy practice. NHPMC is a not-for-profit 531-bed facility that opened in 1903 and includes a separate pediatric hospital within its walls, Hemby Children’s Hospital. Novant Health is a hospital system that spans across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. NHPMC is a community non-teaching hospital setting that provides residents with opportunities well integrated into patient care and strong committee involvement with strengths in internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, and pediatrics.
