University Health System is the primary teaching facility for the UT Health Science Center, with a 716-bed flagship hospital and numerous outpatient clinics. In collaboration with UT and UIW pharmacy schools, UHS provides a challenging, well-rounded training environment, with a focus on inpatient acute care in a large academic health system. Longitudinal experiences include academics, hospital practice, major project & professional development. Required rotations include orientation, ambulatory care, critical care, internal medicine, pediatrics, practice management/drug information & solid organ transplant. Electives include (but not limited to) cardiology, diabetes, emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, infectious diseases, palliative care, & ICUs including medical, neonatal, neurosurgical, pediatric & surgical/trauma.
