DETAILED INFORMATION

The goals of the residency are to advance the evidence-based knowledge, skills and abilities of the resident, with particular emphasis on specialized cardiovascular pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy. This is achieved through experiences in a diverse range of critical care, consult and ambulatory units at the LA County General Hospital, Keck Hospital of USC, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The hospitals also serve as the main teaching hospital for the medical school. The resident will also be expected to provide didactic lectures and preceptorship to pharmacy students, as well as complete a research project. Other opportunities for scholarship and teaching exist and are encouraged. Upon completion of training, the resident should be well equipped to pursue a clinical career or clinical-track academic position in cardiology.
