St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital is a 550-bed acute care, Level 1 trauma, university-affiliated community hospital and teaching facility. The PGY1 Residency is a 12-month program with an emphasis in acute care and experiences in ambulatory care, practice management, formulary and policy management, and hospital practice. Required rotations include transitions of care, internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, management, ambulatory care, drug policy, medication safety and clinical services (consultation service and antimicrobial stewardship). Elective rotations include infectious disease, geriatrics, cardiology, nephrology, trauma service, anticoagulation clinic, family medicine, and oncology. The resident also participates in a teaching certificate program with a local College of Pharmacy.
