Federal Medical Center (FMC) Butner is a national medical referral center for the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) located in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. Staffed by United States Public Health Service (USPHS) officers & civilians, the site is responsible for all healthcare needs of the inmates it houses plus that of four other prisons located within the complex. Services provided include dialysis, mental health, oncology, surgery, orthopedics, radiology, acute care, hospice, acute care, chronic care & ambulatory services in a correctional environment. Learning experiences include drug information, internal medicine, HIV, oncology, mental health, anticoagulation, pain management, diabetes,& administration.
The program’s purpose to produce effective and well rounded clinical pharmacists & enhance recruiting efforts.
