DETAILED INFORMATION

This critical care residency is a 12-month program designed to develop specialized skills in critical care pharmacotherapy while providing opportunities for didactic and clinical teaching and clinical research. The primary practice site is within the 65-bed intensive care units at the Dallas VA Medical Center. Required rotations include: Medical ICU, Cardiac ICU, Surgical/Thoracic ICU, and Infectious Disease/Antibiotic Stewardship. Elective rotations (Trauma, poison control/toxicology, ER, solid-organ transplant, etc.) are available. Completion and presentation of a research project is required. The resident will receive a faculty appointment as an Assistant Instructor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy. A Teaching and Learning Curriculum program is offered.
