DETAILED INFORMATION

UWHC performs nearly 500 solid organ transplants per year and is consistently ranked among the top 10 most active transplant centers in the country. The PGY2 Solid Organ Transplant Residency provides a broad educational experience in transplantation according to ASHP residency training standards.
The primary focus of the residency is abdominal transplant (kidney, liver, pancreas) of adult patients with a secondary focus on cardiothoracic (heart & lung) transplant. Comprehensive clinical knowledge in the care of transplant recipients will be gained via practice as a member of the inpatient surgical and medical transplant teams and longitudinal practice in the ambulatory transplant clinics. The resident will complete a research project suitable for publication. Elective rotations are tailored to meet the needs and interest of the resident.
